F1 2024 Monaco GP – Practice 1 Results

Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheet in FP1 at the 2024 Monaco GP, with Max Verstappen in the Red Bull all the way down in 11th place

As the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix race weekend got underway, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton found himself top of the Formula 1 timesheet in Free Practice 1 just 0.029s ahead of Oscar Piastri in the McLaren.

A positive session for Mercedes saw George Russell finish in third position with Lando Norris in the second McLaren finishing FP1 in fourth place. All four of those drivers set their best time on the soft tyres.

Charles Leclerc on the medium was fifth in the Ferrari, with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll sixth and seventh, before the RB cars of Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo in eighth and ninth, with Carlos Sainz rounding out the Top 10.

Max Verstappen was unhappy with his Red Bull car once again in FP1 and ended the session in 11th spot, over 0.8s behind leader Hamilton. Zhou Guanyu hit the wall and brought out the red flag, and Pierre Gasly had an issue with the power unit in his Alpine.
