Defiant Horner STILL won’t address Google Drive leaks but insists focus is on family and Red Bull

Christian Horner and Geri Halliwell watched on as Max Verstappen led a Red Bull 1-2 at the 2024 Bahrain GP

Christian Horner faced over five minutes of questions on the situation following his investigation for inappropriate and controlling behaviour but refused to comment on the supposed evidence ‘leak’ and reiterated his focus is on the team and his family.

Geri Halliwell attended the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix in a show of support for her husband, who continues to deny all accusations against him after he was cleared by the Red Bull GmbH investigation into complaints from a female employee.

The Google Drive leak of messages and images allegedly sent between Horner and the employee remains unverified but Halliwell‘s attendance was a defiant statement before Max Verstappen led a comfortable 1-2 in the Bahrain GP itself.

“Obviously, it’s not been pleasant, some of the unwanted attention,” Horner told the media. “But the focus is now very much on the cars, my focus has very much been on what’s going on track and I think the result today demonstrates where the whole team’s focus is, and we move onwards. I’m not going to comment on what motives whatever person may have for doing this.

“I’m not going to comment on anonymous speculative messages from an unknown source. They’re from an unknown source, which I’m not going to comment on. So next question.

“My focus is on this team, my family, my wife, and going racing. I have the support of an incredible family, an incredible wife, an incredible team, and everybody within that team, and my focus is on going racing and winning races and doing the best that I can.”

Horner 100% sure he’ll remain in post for Saudi Arabia

It’s still unclear how the Horner saga will conclude, with a pandora’s box of questions remaining even if he remains as Red Bull team principal.

It’s still unknown whether the leaks are genuine, who sent them, whether there are more to come the extent of the reported power struggle within Red Bull, whether Horner truly has the support of Verstappen and if the FIA or Formula 1 will intervene.

But Horner looks set to remain in his post at least until after the Saudi Arabian GP – seven days after Verstappen and Sergio Perez cruised home at the front of the field in Bahrain.

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali are monitoring the situation with a key issue being the lack of transparency over the investigation from Red Bull, but Horner was clear that he considers the case closed.

“There was a full, lengthy internal process that was completed by an independent KC and the grievance that was raised was dismissed,” Horner added. “I’ve always been entirely confident that I will be here and my focus is on the season ahead. And the races we have ahead

I’ve had tremendous support from within the team, and within the company. So yes, it was a day of about going racing, about the start of the season, and about starting the season in the best possible way so the drivers did brilliantly, the team did brilliantly.

And, yeah it was the best possible start for the team, for our partners, for our shareholders and everybody within the group.
