F1 2024 Canadian GP – Practice 1 Results

Lando Norris in the McLaren was fastest in FP1 at the 2024 Canadian GP as wet conditions ensured there was limited running in Montreal

As the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix race weekend got underway, McLaren driver Lando Norris found himself top of the Formula 1 timesheet in Free Practice 1 after a rain-soaked session allowed for around 25 minutes of running.

There was little to no action on track after a storm swept through the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve ahead of the FP1 session, but thanks to officials clearing the surface water and the emergence of sunshine we did see the field on track towards the end of the session.

As the track dried, Norris put his McLaren 0.328s ahead of Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari, who was followed by teammate Charles Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton was fourth fastest but over 1.5s adrift of Norris.

Zhou Guanyu brought out the red flag after be collided with the barrier while the track was wet and Jack Doohan replaced Estaban Ocon for FP1, but never managed any meaningful running.
