F1 2024 British GP – All the new helmet and livery designs

Four drivers will run special lids whilst Williams and Red Bull run one-off liveries for the famous 2024 British GP.

The 2024 British GP is one of the most celebrated events on the Formula 1 calendar and to mark the occasion, we don’t just have new helmets from Lando Norris, Sergio Perez, Pierre Gasly, Fernando Alonso and Zhou Guanyu as we’ve also got new livery designs for Red Bull and Williams.

Let’s get started with the home team as they get into the patriotic mood on the weekend of the United Kingdom’s General Election by decorating their FW46 car with the British flag over the engine cover as they return to their local track at Silverstone.

The red, white and blue design, sandwiched between their Duracell and Gulf sponsors, will also pay tribute to all the hard-working men and women at Grove as the team continues to try to push their way back up the F1 standings and into competitiveness.

To celebrate their personnel, James Vowles’ team’s car will sport all the names of their factory members within the Union Flag (not a Jack because it’s not on a ship) which totals to a massive 1005 people getting prepared to try to tackle 52-laps around F1’s second oldest track.

Williams’ livery for the 2024 British GP

Williams enter the race after experiencing a challenging 2024 Austrian GP during which both their drivers seemed to have respectable pace over one lap only to be let down by their blue-soaked car, which lacked speed in Spielberg.

As a result, they were limited to 15th and 19th in Sprint Qualifying, which turned into 16th and 17th in the Sprint Race and in their attempt for the Grand Prix, they qualified 16th and 19th again before finishing in the same position despite Lando Norris’ DNF.

It means they’ve scored two points through 11 rounds of the season as they trail Alpine by seven points, Haas by 17 points and RB by 28 points in the battle between the teams towards the back of the grid.

Red Bull will celebrate their “home” Grand Prix too in the sense that their factories are based in Milton Keynes, although they run an Austrian racing license since that is where their holding company was founded.

The defending champions enter the race at Silverstone looking to claim just their third victory here since 2014 as Max Verstappen bids for his second-straight win at the high-speed track full of historic corners.

To mark the occasion, they’ve filled the dark-blue void over their sidepods with a sharp red colour that offers a great contrast to the darkness previously there in what seems to be a messy, tiger stripes sort of pattern for Sergio Perez and Verstappen’s car.

Red Bull livery for the 2024 British GP

Can Max Verstappen win the 2024 British GP? That’s the question on everyone’s lips as they head to the circuit in Northamptonshire with Mercedes and McLaren ready to throw down the challenge to the championship leaders.

In 2023, Norris took the lead off the line before later being picked off as Verstappen managed a significant, but small, gap to the British driver. But one year on, the pace gap between Red Bull and McLaren seems to have vanished.

Verstappen has faced challenges from Norris ever since the 2024 Miami GP so will he be able to repel what’s sure to be the latest one and claim the third win of his career at Silverstone?

Lando Norris will also run a special helmet as he partakes in the fifth British GP of his career and the McLaren driver will surely be gunning for a win around Silverstone in 2024 after throwing down major challenges to Max Verstappen for the previous six rounds of the F1 season.

As the 24-year-old hits the track this weekend, his usual luminous yellow helmet has a different twang to it in a collaboration with the team’s sponsor, Android. The popular operating system provider has created a GIF-style lid for the young superstar full of various colours of green, pink, white, black and yellow to name a few.

His brand logo, LN4, can also be spotted on the side of the helmet in a grainy sort of style, which is of course, the theme of the GIF which stands for Graphics Interchange Format and is a popular way of sharing short visuals and videos online.

Lando Norris helmet for the 2024 British GP

So, can Norris win the 2024 British GP? The home crowd would have certainly feel that buzz in the air after 2023’s race alone, when he took the lead from Max Verstappen on Lap 1 before leading Lewis Hamilton home in second and third respectively.

But this year? Norris has managed to offer fights to Verstappen ever since the Miami GP some six races ago and with Silverstone known for its high-speed sectors, which McLaren are thought to be the best on the grid at tackling, it gives Norris a chance to be the first British winner here since 2021.

Sergio Perez will also continue the celebrations of Red Bull’s “home” race as he brings a unique helmet design to the 2024 British GP whilst he looks to get his F1 2024 season back on track after some difficult races.

The Mexican commits very heavily to the Red Bull identity with his latest lid which resembles one of the cans from the energy drinks brand but also pays tribute to F1 with a clever design that incorporates the chequered flag too.

Split into square quarters, Perez recognises 20 years of Red Bull with a motivation message of, “Never Give Up” beneath his initials on the back of the helmet, whilst the other 50% of the design is the dark blue of the team he represents which is littered with a plethora of sponsors for the ever-popular man from Guadalajara.

Sergio Perez helmet for the 2024 British GP

Perez looks to recover form at Silverstone after some torrid results ever since the Chinese GP as the 34-year-old has finished fourth, eighth twice, seventh and with two DNFs in a run that has seen him slip down to fifth in the drivers’ standings behind Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and Verstappen.

Silverstone is a track that’s been kind to Perez before. He found himself on the podium in 2022 after pulling off late overtakes on Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, although the win just managed to evade him as Sainz’s Ferrari got to the flag first.

Will Perez hit back in 2024?

Fernando Alonso heads into the 20th British GP of his ancient career and bids to somehow claim a third win at the Silverstone Circuit after taking victories in 2006, on route to the titles with Renault, and in 2011 in the famous red of Ferrari, but it will be a tall order for the Aston Martin driver.

None the less, he’s decided to introduce a special helmet to pay tribute to one of his sponsors at this year’s edition of the 52-lap race by paying homage to Hugo Boss. A blue helmet which features blue to the top and brown at the back half features “BOSS” emblazoned just behind where his ears would be whilst the blue appears to have some kind of spotted design.

Fernando Alonso helmet for the 2024 British GP

Alonso looks to wring the neck of his Aston Martin to get it back into the points at the 2024 British GP following a run of just one points finish in five races after a 100% rate prior as his team appears to have completely lost the understanding of their car.

Alonso will also hope for a cleaner race than the 2024 Austrian GP when he collected a time penalty for colliding with Zhou Guanyu’s Sauber in the middle of the race in what was a rare crash for the Spaniard.

Pierre Gasly might be sitting out of FP1 but he’s not going to miss out on the chance to bring a one-off lid to the 2024 British GP in Silverstone as he pays tribute to Britain’s ancient enemy by hailing his French heritage.

The Alpine racer honors Paris Saint Germain, the soccer team he supports, with their badge on the back, splitting a message that reads, “Lci cest Paris, Paris est magique” which translates to “Paris is magic” and honors one of his friend’s songs.

The PSG logo also features on the front, just below his chin, whilst the colours of the French flag (red, white and blue) are all firmly on show too in a modern art approach of a scruffy/rough approach.

Pierre Gasly helmet for the 2024 British GP

Pierre Gasly is on a roll at the moment with four points finishes in the previous four races as Alpine look to find their way back into the fight in the midfield behind Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes.

So, with the new helmet to hand, will he be able to score another point this weekend? Just the one point will see him go up to 14th in the standings.

Zhou Guanyu is the final driver to run a special helmet for the 2024 British GP at Silverstone in a vibrant Pepsi blue with some sharp red to accompany it to create the Z initial of his surname, which goes first in Chinese culture.

The Sauber youngster grew up in Sheffield as he pursued a path to F1, which he finally got in 2022 and although this could be the final season in the sport for him this helmet will be one to remember.

Atop of the logo is a pattern of Chinese art whilst the blue sides feature tiger stripes and an interesting feature within the red appears to be the collision he suffered in 2022 when a scary crash saw his roll hoop fail and the 25-year-old launched into the crash fence.

The heart-stopping moment saw George Russell park his Mercedes and rush over to try to help him whilst the FIA then introduced new tests and procedures to make sure the incident doesn’t happen again.

Zhou Guanyu helmet for the 2024 British GP

Zhou heads into this race looking to finally outqualify Valtteri Bottas for the first time this season as he also chases his, and Sauber’s, first points of the campaign in a terrible start to the year for the Swiss team.

They’ll become Audi in 2026 but at the moment, their best result of 11th place is far something the German car brand will be eager to see and it’s a sad fall from 2022 when they finished the Abu Dhabi GP with 55 points on the board and sixth in the standings.
