F1 2024 Bahrain GP – Fastest Lap

Max Verstappen cruised to a dominant victory at the F1 2024 season opener at the Bahrain GP

Max Verstappen set a fastest lap of a 1:32.608 at the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix as he crushed the opposition to get his Formula 1 championship defence off to the right way in the Middle East.

The Dutchman took pole, led every lap and set the fastest lap on Lap 39 on his way to a season-opening Grand Slam as Red Bull showed that they’re still clearly the quickest car.

Now a three-time world champion, Verstappen didn’t have to worry about anything beyond Lap 1 and he took off into the distance. By the middle part of the race he had opened up a gap greater than the length of the pit straight.

At the age of 26, with nine years’ experience in the sport, he is well into his prime and flexed that at the Bahrain International Circuit by consistently lapping half a second quicker than his teammate and Carlos Sainz before easing off to manage himself to the end.

How much quicker was his fastest lap?

As far as the fastest lap was concerned, his nearest challenger was the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc but he wasn’t anywhere near.

The Monegasque, who battled brake issues throughout, was 1.482 seconds slower when he set his fastest lap in the Middle Eastern nation as he went on to finish 39.669 seconds down in fourth.

Verstappen‘s best time was 1.756 quicker than his Red Bull teammate, Perez, despite them both being on similar strategies by running the soft tyre for their final stints.
