Aston Martin unveil the pioneering AMR24 for 2024 F1 season

Aston Martin are aiming to further improve in the 2024 F1 season with the AMR24

In a landmark event that underscores its commitment to excellence and innovation, the Aston Martin Formula 1 Team unveiled the AMR24, its contender for the 2024 season.

This pivotal moment also introduced the new Vantage road car and the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, marking a trilogy of groundbreaking reveals that are set to redefine performance benchmarks in their respective arenas.

The AMR24, donned in the iconic racing green livery complemented by Aramco’s title partner branding, signifies a bold and significant evolution from its predecessor, which propelled the team to an impressive eight podium finishes and 280 points in the 2023 season.

Despite the continuity in design philosophy, the AMR24 boasts a radical overhaul with the majority of its components being freshly conceived for the 2024 season.

This evolution has led to a race car that is not only lighter but also more aerodynamically efficient, capable of adapting to a broader range of circuit configurations.

Mike Krack, the Team Principal, expressed his pride in the AMR24, attributing its development to the concerted efforts of the entire team stationed at the newly inaugurated AMR Technology Campus.

“We are proud to debut the AMR24,” Mike Krack said in a statement. “It is the result of a huge effort by the whole team at our new AMR Technology Campus and it will allow the team to take another step forward in 2024.

“Since the last race in 2023, everyone has been hyper-focused on improvements in every area, concentrating our efforts on what really makes a difference, what really matters to be better.

“Almost every area of the car has been refined and improved, building on our strengths, and taking on board the lessons of the previous campaign. 2023 was our best season to date and our goal this season is to score regular points, podiums, and fight for our first win in green.”

Aston Martin all-rounder

The focus has been razor-sharp, with the team channeling its energies into refining and enhancing every aspect of the car. Krack‘s ambition for the upcoming season is clear: to achieve regular points finishes, secure podiums, and vie for the team’s maiden victory in its distinguished green.

Dan Fallows, the Technical Director, highlighted the evolutionary nature of the AMR24 amidst stable regulations, emphasizing the introduction of numerous new components designed to provide a robust platform for ongoing development.

“I would call the AMR24 a strong evolution of last year’s car and it does look quite different with many new parts to give us a strong platform for development,” Fallows said.

“The chassis design is new, as well as the nose, front wing, front suspension and rear suspension. We want to compete in the development race this season and this car is designed to do just that.

“We want a race car that is more of an all-rounder. We believe the AMR24 provides the ideal platform for in-season development and a sustained season-long challenge.”

Among the notable enhancements are a new chassis design, innovative front wing and suspension systems, all aimed at maintaining competitive momentum throughout the season.

The emphasis on versatility aims to equip the AMR24 to excel across a diverse array of circuit characteristics, ensuring it remains a formidable contender in the development race.

The aerodynamic strategy has been meticulously refined, with the front wing and over-wheel winglets redesigned to optimize airflow management.

This, coupled with a comprehensive overhaul of the sidepods and bodywork, aims to enhance the efficiency of downforce-producing elements, crucial for maintaining competitive edge.

Underpinning the AMR24 is a push-rod suspension layout at both the front and rear, designed to synergize with the car’s aerodynamic attributes and accommodate the latest Mercedes power unit and gearbox.

Stroll highlighted the palpable excitement and ambition within the team, while Alonso reflected on the collective achievement and his eagerness to embark on his 21st season in Formula One with Aston Martin.

The launch of the AMR24, alongside the new Vantage road car and Vantage GT3, marks the beginning of a new chapter in Aston Martin’s storied motorsport legacy.

Engineered for real drivers, these machines epitomize the fusion of performance, innovation, and passion that defines Aston Martin

As the 2024 season approaches, the Aston Martin Aramco Formula 1 Team looks forward with optimism, ready to challenge the limits and set new benchmarks in the world of motorsport.
