There was less than a tenth separating the top three drivers though the day belonged to Ferrari and Carlos Sainz after the Spaniard put in a sensational lap time to take first position on the starting grid for the 2023 Singapore GP.
Sainz pipped the Mercedes of George Russell, who starts second at Marina Bay, while the Charles Leclerc in the second Ferrari will begin the race from third on the grid.
Lando Norris in his upgraded McLaren will start an impressive fourth, just ahead of fellow Brit, Sir Lewis Hamilton, who will line up fifth on the grid in his Mercedes.
The biggest surprise was Max Verstappen and Red Bull as the championship leaders failed to make it out of Q2 and will start from 11th on the grid, with Sergio Perez in 13th.
Verstappen also avoided a grid penalty for impeding during qualifying, which would have further compounded a horrendous day in Singapore for the Dutchman.
Aston Martin also announced that Lance Stroll, who has a massive crash in Qualifying, will not take part in the 2023 Singapore GP.
