A sensational lap at the death from Max Verstappen put the Red Bull driver on pole position for the 2023 Monaco GP, 0.084s ahead of Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin.
The final minutes of the qualifying session in Monaco was unbelievable and going into the final sector Verstappen was over two tenths behind Alonso’s time, before pulling something special out the bag.
Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari was a tenth behind Verstappen, with Esteban Ocon in the Alpine, a sensational fourth.
Early on in the session, Sergio Perez slammed into the barrier at Turn 1, midway through Q1 which means he starts in last place.
Lando Norris broke his suspension towards the end of Q2, but did make it into the top 10 shootout, with the McLaren mechanics doing an incredible job to repair the car.
