Three-time world champion Max Verstappen will look to equal Alain Prost’s 51 wins on Sunday which would put him joint-fourth in the all-time Grand Prix winners list.
Verstappen has won in Mexico four times but could be seen as the villain by the crowd as his teammate Sergio Perez looks for a first podium since Monza in September.
Lewis Hamilton will be hoping to bounce back from his disqualification at the 2023 United States GP which put him 39 points behind Perez in the battle for second in the drivers’ championship.
Mercedes are just 22 points ahead of Ferrari in the fight for second in the constructors’ championship, with just four events remaining.
It’s a normal F1 race weekend format in Mexico City, so qualifying will be on Saturday and the race on Sunday.
When is the 2023 Mexico City GP?
The 2023 Mexico City GP will take place at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, a track which F1 began racing at in the 1960s. The event was previously known as the Mexican GP until 2021 when Mexico City provided more backing for the Grand Prix, so it changed name.
Qualifying is scheduled for 22:00 UK time (15:00 local) on Saturday and the race itself is at at 20:00 (14:00 local) on Sunday. Note that the clocks go back by one hour on Sunday morning in the UK.
