Sainz snatched pole from Max Verstappen at the Italian GP

    -

Carlos Sainz took a dramatic pole position for Ferrari at the Italian Grand Prix, beating Red Bull’s Max Verstappen for P1 by just 0.013 seconds.

The Scuderia have looked like a serious threat to Red Bull all weekend, with Charles Leclerc, who starts third, initially setting the best time from the front runners.

However, after Verstappen crossed the line and looked set to claim yet another pole, it was Sainz who sent the Tifosi into a frenzy by claiming his fourth career pole position.

Elsewhere, George Russell starts fourth for Mercedes ahead of Sergio Perez, while Lewis Hamilton had to settle for the eighth fastest time.
