    -

Carlos Sainz set the pace in his Ferrari in Free Practice 2 at the 2023 Italian Grand Prix, finishing just 0.019s ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris.

Sergio Perez and Red Bull rounded out the top three, finishing just ahead of Oscar Piastri, while championship leader Max Verstappen had to settle for the fifth fastest time.

Elsewhere, Charles Leclerc finished sixth in the other Ferrari, while George Russell and Lewis Hamilton could only manage the ninth and 18th fastest times respectively.

The session was stopped on two occasions. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll was forced to stop his car with a reported fuel system failure, while Perez sent his car into the gravel trap at the Parabolica after a touch of understeer mid-corner with minutes remaining.
