Pierre Gasly has urged Alpine to repeat their performance from the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix weekend, which saw the team secure its first Formula 1 podium in 18 months.
After a tough start to the season, which saw the Enstone-based outfit slip behind Aston Martin, Alpine finally picked up a podium in Monaco, with Esteban Ocon finishing third behind Fernando Alonso and race winner Max Verstappen.
“Personally, I’m extremely excited to see what we can achieve here,” said Gasly to selected media outlets, including Total Motorsport.com. “There’s great momentum in the team. Monaco was a big step forward.
“That’s the sort of performance I want to see from the team. I can see all the efforts they are putting all the work [in] that is going into this new package. I hope we can put a similar performance in the coming races.”
Gasly: Still a couple areas to be worked on
As for Gasly, a threat of a potential race ban has faded, after he came into the season on the verge of a one-event suspension due to penalty points from the previous 12 months.
The Frenchman is now keen to squeeze everything out of the Alpine while working on areas he feels need to be polished.
“I’m pretty pleased [but] if you asked me whether I feel like we’ll explore exploiting 100% of the potential [ the answer is] no,” said Gasly. “I still think a couple of areas need to be worked on.

“This will be discussed, and some more communication and understanding from the team and myself making things more clear on exactly what I want or what I need.
“Still every weekend chipping [away], getting towards that perfection but quite a bit to work on.”
