The session was heavily disrupted after an issue with the Circuit Gilles-Villneuve CCTV systems.

Valtteri Bottas returned to the top of the timesheets after going quickest in a heavily disrupted FP1 for Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix.

During the opening stages of the session, Pierre Gasly stopped on track after suffering a gearbox problem in the opening stages of FP1, bringing out the red flag and ending his session.

The red flag was extended because of a power issue relating to circuit CCTV cameras not working, causing delays and effectively ending the session early.

This meant Bottas topped the times from local hero Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso, with Sergio Perez fourth fastest and Max Verstappen fifth, while Oscar Piastri rounded off the top six.

Due to over 50 minutes being lost from FP1 because of the delay, FP2 will now be extended by 30 minutes, starting at 21:30 UK time.
