F1 2023 Belgian GP – Sprint Shootout Results

Verstappen sealed pole position for the Sprint Race with the final lap of the session.

    -

Max Verstappen took his second pole position of the Belgian GP weekend at the Sprint Shootout, as he edged out the McLaren of Oscar Piastri by 0.011 seconds in another rain-dominated session.

Verstappen was the last driver to cross the line, with a time of 1:49.056, knocking Piastri off what would have been the Australian’s maiden pole position, with the Ferraris of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in third and fourth.

The second part of the session came to a premature end after Lance Stroll, running on the required medium dry tyres as the track was not declared wet, span at the No Name corner, sending his Aston Martin into the barriers and bringing out the red flags.

That hampered the qualifying of his teammate Fernando Alonso, who went out in 15th after the session wasn’t restarted just behind Stroll, and Daniel Ricciardo in 11th for AlphaTauri.
