Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin continued their impressive start to the 2023 F1 season with the fastest time in FP2 at the Bahrain GP, just ahead of Red Bull pair Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
Those three cars were a class apart with Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari almost half a second behind Alonso, and just ahead of Nico Hulkenberg’s Haas. Lance Stroll was sixth, but radio-ed in an issue with his wrist.
Pierre Gasly was next in the Alpine, with Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes only managing eighth. His teammate George Russell was 13th fastest.
