Charles Leclerc was the class of the field in the first F1 Sprint Shootout, meaning the Ferrari will start first on the grid in Saturday’s 2023 Azerbaijan GP Sprint Race.
Joining Leclerc on the front row of the grid will be Sergio Perez in the Red Bull, with his teammate Max Verstappen in third position.
The sister Ferrari of Carlos Sainz could only make it into fifth after Leclerc careered into the wall on the final runs in the shootout.
That allowed George Russell in the Mercedes into fourth, with the second Silver Arrow of Lewis Hamilton in sixth on the grid.
