George Russell took a magnificent pole position for Mercedes at the 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix, the first of his Formula 1 career knocking the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz into second.
Just when it looked like Ferrari were about to lock out the front row, the Mercedes man went first, with Charles Leclerc down in third place.
The shocks kept coming as Max Verstappen only qualified in 10th after a loss of power in the Red Bull.
The third biggest shock came in Q2 from Sergio Perez with the Red Bull driver only able to put his car in 11th place, and that came after he had a lap deleted, then reinstated.
Sebastian Vettel, who announced his retirement from F1 at the beginning of the weekend, didn’t manage to make it out of Q1.
