F1 2022: British GP Starting Grid

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz starts on pole position for the very first time, followed by world champion Max Verstappen in the Red Bull

    -

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz take a surprise pole position Silverstone, with the Spanish driver himself not expecting to be first on the starting grid for the 2022 British Grand Prix.

Sainz took full advantage of a Charles Leclerc spin and Max Verstappen getting caught out by a yellow flag to take his first ever pole position, in what will be his 150th Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Sandwiched between the two Ferrari cars is Verstappen in the Red Bull, with his teammate Sergio Perez in fourth. Mercedes, who had hoped to be competing for pole, will start in fifth place with Lewis Hamilton
