Lewis Hamilton was fastest overall for Mercedes in the first practice session of the Abu Dhabi GP, with teammate George Russell in second.
The session saw a number of the top drivers, including Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso, stay on the sidelines as drivers from F2 and the reserves got a chance to test the cars on track.
Liam Lawson and Robert Shwartzman performed well in their appearances for Red Bull and Ferrari respectively, while Logan Sargeant was given track time as he gears up to replace Nicholas Latifi at Williams for 2023.
