F1 heads to the legendary Suzuka circuit this weekend for the 2023 Japanese GP hot off one of the best races of the season last time out at the Singapore GP.

Carlos Sainz took a famous victory for Ferrari under the lights of Marina Bay, fending off the challenge of Lando Norris and Mercedes to secure a smooth second victory in F1.

But with Max Verstappen and Red Bull set to be back on the pace again after a rare off weekend, can anyone challenge the Dutchman for the top spot once again?

Who’s in the Spotlight?

  • Max Verstappen: The Red Bull maestro is the clear favourite despite his struggles in Singapore, with the RB19 expected to be back on top form after one to forget at Marina Bay.
  • Carlos Sainz: After his triumph in Singapore, Sainz is a contender to watch out for, with the potential to shake up the order once again in Japan
  • Lewis Hamilton and George Russell: The Mercedes pair showed just how competitive their car can be in race trim last time out, despite Russell’s heartbreaking late crash, and will likely be fighting towards the front once again.
