The finale of the 2021 Formula 1 season was as dramatic as they come, and many have been waiting for Netflix’s take in their series Drive to Survive, and Mercedes team principle Toto Wolff delivered a warning to everyone ahead of the new campaign.
Obviously, we have some spoilers, so if you don’t want to know what was said… Look away now. For those of you who are keen to hear the German’s reaction to Max Verstappen’s 2021 Drivers’ Championship win, then read on.
“Max was worthy of winning the championship, but not in the way it happened,” Wolff said in the final episode.
“If you are doing a good enough job you will win the race and here that was not how it went, the decision was simply wrong and it’s clear this is going to leave some scars on Lewis, myself and the team.

“Lewis had done everything that was necessary to win the championship. It was taken away from him and there and there’s nothing better that they could have done to motivate us.
When asked if Red Bull will have a target on their backs next year, Wolff’s reply was ominous: “Everyone has a target on their backs next year.”
