The Formula 1 world is still absorbing the news that Christian Horner has been dismissed by Red Bull Racing after 20 years at the helm, but the man who turned the team into serial winners has now shared his true feelings in a powerful and emotional statement.
Just hours after being ousted from his role as team principal and CEO, Horner’s first public comments pull back the curtain on what really matters to him as he reflects on his legacy, the team’s achievements, and the family he is leaving behind.
The news of Horner’s sacking on July 9 sent shockwaves through the paddock, ending an era that began back in 2005 when he became the sport’s youngest team boss.
Through triumph and turmoil, Horner oversaw Red Bull’s transformation from outsiders to F1’s gold standard, claiming six Constructors’ Championships, eight Drivers’ Championships, and a staggering 124 Grand Prix wins.
Yet, recent months brought turmoil, as off-track scandals and a dip in performance left the team vulnerable and set the stage for a dramatic changing of the guard. Now, with Laurent Mekies stepping in as CEO, Red Bull begins an uncertain new chapter.
Horner’s moving farewell to Red Bull
In his Instagram statement, Horner did not hold back his emotions.“After an incredible journey of 20 years together, it is with a heavy heart that today I say goodbye to the team I have absolutely loved,” Horner began.
