Verstappen showcases dominance in Austria

Verstappen set an early benchmark in Q3, which he then improved on his second attempt, leaving Norris in second place despite the McLaren driver’s impressive effort. George Russell placed his Mercedes in third, showing strong pace throughout the session.

Carlos Sainz brought his Ferrari home in fourth, followed closely by Lewis Hamilton in fifth. Charles Leclerc, despite an off-track moment during his final lap, secured sixth position for Ferrari.

Oscar Piastri, who initially seemed poised for a third place, was relegated to seventh due to exceeding track limits. Sergio Perez will start eighth for Red Bull, while Nico Hulkenberg took ninth for Haas but faces investigations for two pit lane incidents. Rounding out the top 10 was Esteban Ocon in the Alpine, marking a solid performance for the French team.

Yuki Tsunoda will start from 14th for RB. Fernando Alonso had a challenging session, unable to improve his position and ending up 15th after reporting a near crash during his flying lap.

Williams drivers had a tough outing, with Alex Albon finishing 16th and Logan Sargeant set to start from 19th. Lance Stroll struggled in Q1, securing only 17th, while the Sauber duo of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu will occupy 18th and 20th positions on the grid.
