Alpine set stage with dual 2024 car launch: Introducing the A524 F1 and A424 Hypercar

Alpine will have two liveries in the 2024 F1 season as they launched the A524

In a pivotal moment that defines its trajectory for the upcoming motorsport season, Alpine unveiled its formidable lineup for the 2024 FIA Formula 1 World Championship and FIA World Endurance Championship in a comprehensive Motorsport Launch at its Enstone base.

This historic occasion not only marked the debut of the eagerly awaited A524 Formula 1 car and the A424 World Endurance Hypercar but also celebrated the synergy of Alpine’s racing philosophy, technological innovation, and partnership dynamics. The Alpine F1 Team sets its sights on the unprecedented 24-race season with a revamped A524, piloted by the all-French, all-Normandy duo of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly.

Their synergy, entering the second consecutive year, embodies Alpine‘s commitment to French excellence and competitive spirit. Underpinned by an aggressive design philosophy, the A524 is a bold step forward, aiming to harness the full potential of its innovations over the next two seasons.

Jack Doohan, continuing as the team’s reserve driver, complements this formidable lineup, ready to step in and uphold the team’s competitive edge.

“The A524 approach has been aggressive but deliberate in the fact we are creating a wider scope to add performance to the car,” technical director Matt Harman said. “We have really focused on learning and reacting to what we have learnt rather than on results.

“The project has been bold where we have focused on realising concepts, which we aim to add to the car. We’ve built ourselves a strong platform to add performance when we can and we have set ourselves targets to deliver those.

“We have pushed some elements to the limit and, in some cases, beyond that. That is all in line with our approach and exactly what we have set out to achieve in progressing this project to the best possible level.”

Looking Ahead

With the A424 heading to Qatar for the season’s prologue and first race, and the A524 slated for its on-track debut with a shakedown on 20 February before pre-season testing in Bahrain, Alpine is on the threshold of a defining year.

Bruno Famin, Alpine VP of Motorsports and Team Principal of the Alpine F1 Team, captured the sentiment perfectly, highlighting the culmination of hard work and the anticipation of translating this into on-track success.

Philippe Sinault, Team Principal of the Alpine Endurance Team, reflected on the significance of this launch in Alpine’s endurance history, emphasizing humility, ambition, and the collective drive towards achieving noteworthy results.

“It goes without saying that I am super excited for the season and I cannot wait to jump back in the car and go racing again,” Ocon said in a statement. “This time of the year is exciting as it is the moment we see what the team has produced.

“I have seen drawings, been on the simulator but, obviously, not yet seen or sampled the complete, real thing. That will wait until shakedown but it’s a nice moment for the team as it’s the culmination of thousands of hours of hard work.

“As a driver, it’s a goosebumps moment when you jump in a new car for the first time and release the pit limiter. That time is close now with the A524 and I really cannot wait to get started.”

Ocon and Gasly excited

Ocon and Gasly shared their excitement and confidence ahead of the new season. Ocon is eager to experience the A524 firsthand, acknowledging the team’s effort and his anticipation for the first drive.

Gasly expressed a sense of comfort and readiness, emphasizing the importance of continuity and his readiness to maximize the team’s potential from the outset.

“I would say that I am in a much better place right now than this time 12 months ago,” Gasly commented. “I know exactly all the people I’m working with; I know all the processes and how to get the best out of those around me and out of myself.

“It is nice to have continuity and building on the foundations that we created last year. I’m feeling confident with the team I have around me. We have all been developing over the last year. Now I am confident that I can attack the season straight away and maximise the full potential of the team.”

Alpine Motorsports’ 2024 launch is more than just a presentation of cars; it’s a declaration of ambition, a showcase of partnership, and a testament to the relentless pursuit of excellence. As Alpine embarks on this dual campaign, the motorsport world watches with bated breath, eager to witness the unfolding of this storied marque’s next chapter.

Alpine’s ambitious foray into the hypercar realm

Transitioning to the World Endurance Championship, Alpine embarks on a new challenge with the A424, entering the Hypercar category as a factory team. The team is buoyed by a two-car lineup, notably enhanced by Mick Schumacher’s entry into endurance racing.

Alongside Schumacher in car No.36 are seasoned racers Nicolas Lapierre and Matthieu Vaxiviere, while car No.35 welcomes newcomers Ferdinand Habsburg and Paul-Loup Chatin, alongside the returning Charles Milesi. With Jules Gounon as the reserve driver, Alpine’s endurance team is a blend of experience and new talent, poised for success.
