All the new F1 driver helmet designs for Canadian GP 2024

Lance Stroll rocks a new helmet for his home Grand Prix, but who else will bring a new lid to Canada?

Lance Stroll returns to his home race in his home city once again as he marks the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal with a special helmet whilst Daniel Ricciardo and Pierre Gasly will also run one-off designs at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Stroll, now aged 25, made his debut as a teenager with Williams at the track he grew up next to, finishing in ninth to record his first ever career points in Formula 1. He DNF’d the following season in a big accident with Brendan Hartley, before returning to the points in 2019 when he finished ninth once again despite starting 18th.

Then he had to wait a few more years to tackle the 2.7 mile-long circuit thanks to Covid-19, but he did so with another points finish as he finished 10th and ahead of his then-teammate, Sebastian Vettel in 2022.

Last time out he delivered another ninth-place finish meaning he has never concluded the 70-lap race outside of the points in an impressive record, earning seven points from five races in Montreal. Will he be able to deliver once again for Aston Martin?

If he does, he will find the flag with a brand new helmet. The lid is majority black with hints of yellow in the form of lines, whilst he makes a big advertisement for Metro Supply Chain by running their logo in the form of white and yellow shapes.

Metro Supply Chain is a logistics service provider meaning that they provide a service aiming to improve customer interaction across North America, boasting that they give “exceptional” results.

Meanwhile, Ricciardo will rock a base-white helmet with the Red Bull logo very clearly visible. The special feature comes in the form of a maple syrup drizzle as a joke that he’s the sponsor of and the face of a branded bottle named Maple Dan.

There’s also a design of a groundhog in a Canadian Rangers uniform, one of the most noticeable cultural elements of the snowy country. He also pays a tribute to the band Alexisonfire.

Ricciardo returns to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve 10 years on from his maiden F1 win when he won from sixth on the grid after passing Nico Rosberg’s Mercedes with two laps to go, whilst Lewis Hamilton retired with brake issues.

“I love Montreal,” Ricciardo said to RB. “The place, the track and I’m really excited to go back there. It has some special memories; this year will be ten years since my very first Formula 1 win at this track.

“Of course, I missed the race last year so I’m more than ready to have a good weekend and get some more points on the board. Maple Syrup, Poutine and some good times!”

Daniel Ricciardo

Gasly will run a half-and-half helmet perfectly divided between light blue and black for the race weekend in Canada. Shades of white give his new lid a dated feel, whilst the upper half is very smooth and shiny.

The helmet is a reference to a local Canadian rapper named Navraj Singh Goraya. Professionally known as Nav, the 34-year-old co-produced Back to Back with Drake and has worked alongside Metro Boomin too.

The helmet pays tribute to the neighbourhood that Goraya grew up in, which is named Rexdale and located in Toronto.
