After asking fans to design a helmet for this weekend’s 2022 French Grand Prix, Esteban Ocon has settled on a what is an eye-catching look for his home race.
Formula 1 heads to the Circuit Paul Ricard for Round 12 of the 2022 World Championship with the Alpine driver keen to impress on home soil.
If Ocon‘s performance is half as good as the design of his helmet, he’s in for a stellar weekend.
The 25-year-old settled on a look sent in to him by young fan William, who managed to incorporate the Evreux flag, the region of Normandy where Ocon was born, into his design.

With the future of the French Grand Prix in doubt given the event’s current contract expires after Sunday’s race, Ocon made it clear he hopes it remains on the calendar, whether it be at Paul Ricard or another venue.
“A grand prix – there is ‘grand prix’ in there, you know, and it’s a French word,” said Ocon. “There’s a big community for motorsport in France, we have some of the biggest and the best cars as well.
“We could find a race if [Paul] Ricard is not working. We could find a race anywhere.”
Ocon isn’t the only driver who will wear a new helmet design this weekend, with compatriot Pierre Gasly also opting for a French-inspired design.
